Personal Statement I received Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior at the age of fourteen, and lived a marginal Christian life until the age of twenty-two. Many events (including the death of my father) caused me to begin seeking the Lord's leadership in my life. My wife and I began to pray for God's direction for our lives and, within one year, we surrendered to full-time Christian service. We agreed to do whatever God wanted us to do, and to go wherever He wanted us to go. Over the next three years, we prayed for a specific calling --- for the Lord to clearly direct us into the ministry He had for us. One night, in a church service at the Prince Avenue Baptist Church in Athens, GA, I received a clear calling into the preaching ministry. My wife, family, and church family added their confirmation, stating they had already seen evidence of God's calling upon my life. I believe a pastor is called to equip the saints for ministry, lead the church in personal soul-winning, and provide direction for the church in building God's kingdom. I believe the Baptist Faith and Message of June 14, 2000.
